We are excited to announce that our Canadian Black History program, Looking Back Into The Future, is the recipient of the Queens University FAS EDII Fund – towards the 6th edition of the conference to be held February 2021.

In sharing the news, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Anita Jack-Davies, mentioned that the program “aligns very well with the terms of the Fund.”

About the 6th edition of the Looking Back into the Future Conference:

This edition is the 6th year instalment of the conference since its inception in 2016. In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 edition of this conference is going virtual. The murder of George Floyd and countless other emerging issues, are major considerations as we prepare for the 2021 conference. The theme, focus, speakers and other details will follow.

About the Looking Back into the Future Conference:

The Looking Back Into the Future Canadian Black History Program is an initiative and subsidiary of OyES Education led by Canadian historian and Co-Founder, Channon Oyeniran. The objective of the program is to impart participants with the knowledge of the history, contributions and achievements of Black Canadians, how they have changed the trajectory of Black History in Ontario and in Canada as well as provide practical solutions for the community to forge ahead. The conference is also aimed at inspiring young people to make a positive impact in the future and to set new historical trends.
